Future application trends of quartz tubes

For a long time, quartz tubes have been regarded as the cornerstone of quartz‑product development—“the sun that never sets in the East.” The theoretical rationale behind this view is extensive and need not be reiterated here. Yet the reality seems to offer little cause for optimism.

At the time, the exhibition occupied four halls at the Beijing National Exhibition Center. As a new event, it was still relatively unknown, so achieving such an exhibition footprint was already a commendable accomplishment.

Of course, this is inseparable from the vigorous organization of China’s Quartz Industry Association, as well as the dedicated efforts of the exhibition company responsible for hosting the event.

Two years have passed, yet the same organizers and the same exhibition company are still at it—albeit on a smaller scale, with this year’s show confined to just three halls. Is it that people simply aren’t putting in enough effort? Perhaps not. Is it because the quartz industry isn’t thriving? At least no one is willing to admit such a situation exists. Still, the reduction in exhibit space is plain for all to see—so how should we make sense of it?

Quartz products constitute a major industry, yet the quartz sector remains fragmented and difficult to coordinate, with its processing characteristics becoming increasingly pronounced. At the same time, the range of quartz‑processing techniques is vast and highly diverse; attempting to bring together and showcase every method would pose formidable challenges. All of these factors make it ever more complex to organize trade shows like packaging expos.

However, beneath these surface phenomena, it is essential to recognize the predicament facing quartz’s career development. Deliberately sidestepping this issue would clearly be unwise.

Standard glass tubing is a type of glass pipe, and its joints are typically sealed with adhesive. When used, it exhibits poor resistance to freezing and heat, which is why it’s not suitable for hot‑water piping. It’s also not recommended for cold‑water applications. Instead, it’s mostly employed as conduit for electrical wiring or as drainage piping. Its overall quality is subpar, so we do not advise purchasing this product.

PPR pipes are a product that offers excellent quality at an affordable price and poses no health risks. However, when making a purchase, it’s important to choose products that meet quality standards.

Why do quartz tube glass products remain durable over time?

Quartz glass tubing exhibits excellent low-temperature resistance and is widely used in second- and third-generation advanced lighting sources. Annual consumption of quartz glass amounts to 2,000 tons, supporting the production of 300 million halogen tungsten lamps and 15 million mercury lamps; it is also employed in the manufacture of xenon lamps, pulsed lamps, atomic‑spectroscopy lamps, and other indispensable light sources for modern technology. Composed of pure silicon dioxide, quartz glass is an essential high-purity material in the electronics industry; crucibles for growing silicon single crystals, diffusion tubes used in integrated circuit fabrication, and various laboratory vessels are all made from quartz glass.
